Home remedies for acne scars run the gamut from oils to water to ice. Acne scars are not just a problem for teenagers. Acne can continue or even begin well into adulthood, and scarring is an issue for everybody. Acne scarring can be anything from long-lasting red marks to permanent dimpling in the skin. It is much more difficult to treat pock marks than it is discoloration or rosacea. Mild acne scarring can sometimes be treated at home, using homeopathic or natural treatments. Hydration It is of the utmost importance that skin stays hydrated. Hydrated skin stays healthier and is less likely to have severe acne breakouts. Eating your daily requirement of fruits and vegetables, along with drinking your daily requirement of water, helps your skin by helping you keep hydrated and by helping to provide all the nutrients and vitamins a person needs to stay healthy. But fruits and vegetables can help your skin in other ways, too. Citric Acid Citric acid can be effective in reducing acne scars by removing dead skin cells and promoting growth of new cells. Because of this, lemon and lime juice can be used as home remedies for acne scars. Simply squeeze some lemon or lime juice into a bowl, dip a cotton ball or pad into the juice and dab it on your scars. Let it sit for one or two minutes, then rinse your face with cool water. Tomatoes and Cucumbers Vitamin A is known to reduce the skin's production of sebum which, in excess, can cause acne. Tomatoes are a rich source of vitamin A. You can make a face mask by thinly slicing tomatoes and covering your face with the slices for 15 minutes. Cucumbers have a lot of vitamin A in their peel, and are rich with vitamin C and folic acid. They can also be used as a face mask. You could also combine the tomatoes with cucumber, forming a paste for a different type of mask. Oils, Gels and Pastes Cold-pressed olive oil, rosehip seed oil and lavender oil can all be applied to help ease acne scars. Simply massage the oil into the acne scars twice daily. The aloe vera plant has a lot of healing properties. You can purchase aloe vera gel at a drug store or super market, or simply break off a piece of a plant you have at home and rub the juice of the plant into your scars. Combining sandalwood and rose water into a paste and applying it to acne scars overnight is also one of the home remedies for acne scars. See also: All Site Articles for Beauty Cosmetics Tips
