Lancome cosmetics is part of the Luxury Products division of L'Oreal. Started in 1935 with five fragrances - Tendre Nuit, Bocages, Conquete, Kypre and Tropiques - Lancome eventually expanded its cosmetics product line to include skin care products and makeup. Over the years, Lancome cosmetics has been home to many famous faces who represented the company in international markets. Lancome cosmetics has always been known for having the hottest celebrities acting as spokespeople for their cosmetics and fragrances. Their associations with celebrities have garnered the company a lot of attention, but not all of it has been positive. Carol Alt Carol Alt because the face of Lancome cosmetics at the age of 18. She was the youngest model to ever represent the company. That was in 1978. This campaign helped make Carol Alt an international super star and one of the major super models of the 1980s. Isabella Rossellini Starting in 1982, Isabella Rossellini became the exclusive international face of the company. Her contract lasted for 14 years. In 1996, when Rossellini turned forty, she was replaced by a younger model. Rossellini went on to create her own makeup line, Manifesto. Uma Thurman Beginning in 2000, Uma Thurman had a five year contract with Lancome cosmetics that was worth over ten million dollars. In 2008 Thurman found out that old advertisements she had done for Lancome were being used in Asia and Canada, and took steps to sue the company. Lancome counter-sued Thurman and it became an international news scandal. Clive Owen An international sex symbol and movie star, at 42 Clive Owen became the first face of Lancome cosmetics' men's skin care line in 2007. He also represented the fragrance Hypnose Homme. Kate Winslet Introduced as the face of Lancome cosmetics in 2007 with the relaunch of the perfume Tresor, Kate Winslet became the face of the company. Unlike most beauty product representatives, Winslet took a stand against airbrushing and only agreed to be the face of Lancome cosmetics if they agreed to forgo airbrushing on her advertisements. Anne Hathaway Lancome always seemed to have their finger on the pulse of modern beauty throughout their campaigns, and so it was no surprise when they tapped one of the brightest starlets in recent years, Anne Hathaway, to be the face of Magnifique, a new fragrance released in August of 2008. When Lancome cosmetics chose her as their new spokesperson, the company's president, Odile Roujol, called Hathaway "radiant young woman who perfectly embodies modern femininity."
